DJ Babu (The Dilated Junkie)

Real Name: Chris Oroc · Handle: @djbabuforeal

Beat Juggling, Scratch Hooks & West Coast Boom-Bap Production

In 1995, Chris 'DJ Babu' Oroc inscribed 'Babu the Turntablist' on his 'Comprehension' mixtape, giving a permanent name to the global movement of DJs who use turntables as musical instruments. Winner of the 1997 ITF World Beat Juggling Championship, he is also the backbone of Dilated Peoples alongside Evidence and Rakaa.

“When I wrote 'Turntablist' on that tape in '95, it was to separate a musician on decks from someone just playing records.”
